MaskenBall HUND Base – WIP Update: Unpainted Groundwork and Dynamic Pose Preview

The MaskenBall Ready to Pounce!

Hey everyone!

In today’s update, I’m excited to share some Work-In-Progress (WIP) photos of the latest project I’ve been working on— the groundwork base for the MaskenBall HUND. The base is unpainted but nearly finished, and I wanted to give you a sneak peek into the direction this build is headed.

Creating a Dynamic Base for the MaskenBall HUND

This time, I decided to push the groundwork a little further, aiming to add more movement and dynamism. The base features a debris field and textured layers that will complement the final pose of the HUND. What’s unique about this particular piece is the sense of action I’m aiming to convey. Instead of the usual ominous and static stance you often see, I’ve opted for a more dynamic "pouncing" pose—imagine the HUND ready to strike at its prey.

Photography Challenges and Experimentation

Aside from the modeling itself, I’ve been experimenting with how to capture this piece through photography. The details are intricate, and the required focal lengths are all over the place, making it a real challenge to shoot effectively. I’m considering using stacked photography to bring all the details into focus, but at the same time, I love using a singular focal point to direct attention to the action and storytelling I’m trying to convey.

What’s Next?

Once I’ve finalized the base and pose, I’ll move on to painting, which will really bring the whole piece to life. I’ll be sure to update you on that process as well, so stay tuned! In the meantime, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the groundwork and the dynamic pose I’m aiming for.

Be sure to follow along for more updates on this build and other upcoming projects!
