Maschinen Krieger MaskenBall Hund Advanced Chipping

Sometimes it's worth going hard on your chipping. Why? Because it can add a great deal of visual detail.

However, it does highly depend on the paint finish and is not always necessary or even a good idea. Please compare the basic MaskenBall paint to the other 3 Ground Hund. The Early Großer Hund, the Kyklop Hund and the Dachshund. They are all fully hand painted which yields a very detailed finish and this kind of advanced chipping doesn't always suit them. The same is true for the snow camo finish. They are done in a visceral, "Fude-nuri" style.

This time our smooth finish on a ground Hund just begs for it and I'm super happy to do it as an excellent example for you.

It's also refreshing to come back to the color variations of terrestrial-themed weathering after the space and Lunar versions.

There are 4 main colors and I've done this one exclusively with water-based acrylics - so far - and drilled down with a high level of detail across 3 distinct "flavors" of chips.

1. Dark Grey chipped back to Light Blue.

2. Light Blue chipped back to Red Oxide primer.

3.  All paint is chipped back to an oxidized metal color.

This last one is simulated with a mixture of Vallejo 822 Camo Black Brown and Black.

In keeping with the smooth, "Warbird" style paint way I've also kept the chipping style very tight and focussed rather than my other visceral and expressive way of doing it. Why? Because I like this style too and it's fun to go back and forth with different expressions!

So yes, I would consider this Hund to be very much a well-developed "Teinei" Style, just with a very advanced application.

Hope you like it so far and please do keep in mind if this is the kind of style you like and want to try it out, you can always dial it back a little as well. It still works!

Please think about trying some of this out on your Warbird Group Build Entry!

More soon,
Linc
